profile  Native Los-Angelino and fourth generation Californian, Oliver has had design in his heart as long as he can remember.  He entered the industry at 16, working for the classicist architect, Marc Appleton, while attending the prestigious Crossroads School for the Arts.  He went on to study Industrial Design at Art Center College in Pasadena, and then Architecture at The University of Colorado.  In 1999, Oliver joined the Decorative Arts Department at Christies Auction House.  With his foundation in antiques and decorative arts, he was employed by some very notable designers, including Judy Wilder-Briskin, Trip Haenisch, Martyn Lawrence Bullard, Michael Smith, and the late Greg Jordan of New York and Los Angeles.  Oliver opened his own firm in 2005.   In spring of 2009, Oliver Furth was elected chair of The Decorative Arts and Design Council of LACMA, The Los Angeles County Museum of Art; thus solidifying a long-time, passionate involvement in his community, and beginning a new chapter in his career, as a design community organiser.   Oliver is on the board for LACMA's Council Activities Committee; is a member of The Institute of Classical Architecture; and is a founding member of LA><ART Foundation.  Oliver serves on the Design Advisory Committee for the Los Angeles Antiques Show, and designed a 'mise-en-scene' for the entrance pavillion of the 2008 show.  He is co-chair of the Alumni Council for CEE, The Center for Early Education, and a contributor to online design magazine, 'Balustrade and Bitters'.  Most recently, Oliver co-founded the Los Angeles Design Activities Consortium which brings together leaders from various seperate design communities for shared interest and open forum discussion.
